All about Claire

For the last three years I have dedicated myself to performing at weddings, private functions and my weekly residencies locally to Bournemouth. I have 22 years of experience in live performance and have a wide repertoire of jazz and pop music. I offer a professional and friendly service.

I am a member of the musicians union, hold public liability insurance and all my equipment is fully PAT tested.

I grew up listening to Jazz and went to my first concert aged 6, although not taking up the saxophone until I was 11. I briefly played with the Wessex Youth Fanfare but after joining the rock band at school decided this was what I wanted to be doing.

At 15, I attended a jazz summer school in London and over the following year participated in a number of music therapy workshops in London. I studied at Poole College and subsequently Chichester College for Arts gaining a BTEC in popular music. Since then I have played in bands locally including a jazz quartet for 7 years. I’ve performed in orchestras for musicals, played alongside many D.J sets, including two after show parties for the Cirque du Soleil in Manchester and Birmingham.  I have also had experience playing abroad in Koh Samui, Thailand.

I’m currently performing as a solo act with backing tracks. With this I use a small PA system and can set up my equipment to create a background atmosphere, perfect for drinks receptions or through wedding breakfasts and evening functions.

I am part of a duo ‘Sharp 9’ (saxophone, guitar and vocals) or trio under the same name (saxophone, guitar/vocals and piano). We are suitable for background music or have a larger PA system and lighting for lively evening receptions. This trio also moonlights as a live electronic ‘house’ music act called ‘Rough Masters’.

Please see the ‘music downloads’ page for samples of songs featuring the various acts that I am part of.
